Ahmedabad: A student who appeared for NEET-UG at a school in Gujarat’s Godhra, which was embroiled in a paper leak controversy last year, will finally receive her medical entrance exam results following an order from the Gujarat High Court—nearly 10 months after the exam.

Kulsum Kothi had taken the test at Jay Jalaram School on May 5, 2024, where a district administration raid uncovered an alleged malpractice and paper leak racket. The CBI took over the investigation after suspicions arose of a nationwide scam.

Kulsum’s result had been withheld by the National Testing Agency (NTA) due to suspicions of her involvement in the scam, as the CBI had issued summons to her and her father, Firdos Kothi, under CrPC. After conducting an investigation, the CBI filed a chargesheet in September 2024 against five individuals, including the trustee of Jay Jalaram School. Kulsum’s name was not included in the chargesheet, but despite multiple requests, NTA had not declared her result until the Gujarat High Court’s intervention.
