Haridwar: Two friends from Delhi, who had travelled to Rishikesh, drowned while bathing in the Ganga river on Monday. Divers are currently searching for them after they were swept away by the current at Neem Beach ghat.
According to police, Lovepreet Singh (26) and Neha Rathore (23), residents of Delhi’s Sudarshan Park and Sant Nagar respectively, had gone to Tapovan after renting a bike.
Ritesh Saha, SHO of Muni ki Reti police station, said, “Neha was swept away by the strong current of the river, and Lovepreet jumped in to save her, but both drowned.”
