A 22-year-old man was slain and his brother was injured after being stabbed by three men on bikes in Harsh Vihar, North East Delhi.
Police claimed they detained one of the accused, Vikas (22) and recovered the motorcycle used in the incident. The dead has been named as Ankur, a Pratap Nagar resident who was returning from a Dussehra fair with his brother Himanshu when the accident occurred on Saturday.
According to the preliminary investigation, Ankur and Himanshu allegedly urged a motorcyclist carrying two pillion passengers to ride cautiously on Saboli Road.
After hearing this, the three men jumped off their bikes and began beating Ankur and Himanshu. One of the attackers pulled out a knife and stabbed both brothers, according to a senior police officer.
Himanshu, who had knife wounds in his neck and thigh, managed to transport Ankur to a neighboring hospital in an e-rickshaw, where doctors declared him dead.
“The deceased suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest, stomach, and thigh. We have apprehended one of the suspects, but the other two are still on the run,” the officer said, adding that Ankur’s body was returned to his family following the postmortem examination.
CCTV footage of the event has gone viral on social media, showing the three guys abusing the brothers in full view of the public. The clip also shows a spectator attempting to apprehend one of the attackers as they flee.
“We demand strict action against the accused,” said Krishan Pal, Ankur’s father.
Last month, three guys allegedly stabbed their 16-year-old classmate to death in Shakarpur, East Delhi, after he refused to offer them a “treat” in exchange for a new smartphone.
