At least 25 people were injured when a state-run RTC bus plunged into a 30-foot gorge in YSR district, Andhra Pradesh, on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 9 AM in Namalagundu village, near Pulivendula.

According to police, the “Palle Velugu” bus, operated by the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), was en route from Kadiri in Anantapur to Pulivendula with nearly 30 passengers on board. As the bus approached a dumping yard in Namalagundu, the driver applied the brakes to avoid a collision with a speeding vehicle coming from the opposite direction. This caused the bus to swerve left, skid off the road, and roll into the gorge.

Local villagers and other travelers quickly alerted authorities, and with the help of residents, all passengers and the driver were rescued. Approximately 25 individuals sustained injuries, with two in critical condition. They were transported to the government hospital in Pulivendula.

State legislative council member Bhumireddy Ramagopal Reddy and Pulivendula municipal chairperson V. Varaprasad visited the injured at the hospital.
