A 45-year-old inspector from the Central Crime Branch was found dead near his residence in Ramanagara district on Monday morning. His death is being investigated as a possible suicide. The inspector’s body was discovered by neighbors near his home in Kumbalagod, not far from the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway. An autopsy was performed at Rajarajeshwari Hospital, and his remains have been returned to his family for cremation, scheduled for Tuesday in his native village.
The inspector had been with the Financial Crimes Division of the Bengaluru CCB for only 25 days before his death. Prior to this assignment, he was stationed at Attibele Police Station, where he was suspended following a firecracker warehouse explosion that resulted in several deaths. He faced suspension on charges of dereliction of duty, which reportedly caused him significant distress.
Following his suspension, the inspector frequently visited the commissioner’s and director general’s offices in an attempt to regain his position. While no suicide note was found, investigators are considering all potential factors, including financial difficulties. Vouchers related to loans were discovered in his pockets, suggesting that financial stress might have played a role in his decision.
