Police in Reasi district have detained 50 individuals in connection with the recent terrorist attack on a bus carrying Hindu pilgrims. SSP Reasi, Mohita Sharma, reported that the detentions followed an investigation led by the Kanda Area Police Station.

“District Police Reasi have detained 50 individuals in connection with the recent terrorist attack on a pilgrims’ bus in the Kanda area of P/S Pouni,” stated SSP Sharma. The identification and capture of potential suspects were facilitated by significant leads uncovered during the investigation. “Significant leads have been uncovered, aiding in the identification and capture of those potentially involved in orchestrating the attack,” she added.

Search operations were extended to the Arnas and Mahore areas, historically known for terrorist activity from 1995 to 2005, to gather more evidence and apprehend any hiding terrorists. The attack on June 9 resulted in nine deaths and multiple injuries as terrorists fired upon the bus en route from Shiv Khori cave shrine to Katra.

Following the attack, the vehicle—which was carrying pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi—fell into a gorge.

“The law enforcement agencies are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors in the area,” a police spokesperson stated in an attempt to reassure the public.

Three attacks have recently been reported in the Jammu and Kashmir region, indicating a rise in violent incidents. The terror attacks in Reasi, Kathua, and Doda were the first, second, and third ones, respectively.
