A 13-year-old girl was raped at a Government School in Andhra Pradesh, Eluru district by her Senior, the 15 years old accused has been detained, the Police stated on Thursday.

The accused’s four friends were also detained for filming the assault that took place in the school campus and blackmailed the survivor’s parents. The men have circulated the clip of the assault after the survivor’s parents fails to meet their demand of INR 2 lakh.

The girl had completed her 7th grade examination in March and was visiting the school to claim her marksheet when a senior, a student from the 10th grade along with four men dragged her in the vacant classroom. The boy’s purpose for visiting the school with his friends was not immediately apparent, according to Ramachandra Rao, Police Sub-Inspector (SI) of Mandavalli.

“The four males used their phones to record the act as the teenage boy was raping her. Due to summer break, the school was closed. According to an initial investigation, no staff members or teachers were present at the school when the incident occurred”, Rao stated.

On Wednesday Morning, the girl’s family approached the Mandavalli police station, not able to take the humiliation. After the complaint was registered, the accused were detained within a hour, and the girl was sent for a medical checkup.

The juvenile has been charged under section 375 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for rape. The four men, in addition to section 14 and 15 of the Protection of Child against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and section 67 of the Information Technology Act, have been charged under sections 354 c (filming a private incident without consent), 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 109 (abetment of crime) of the IPC.

“The boy was placed in a juvenile home while the other four accused individuals, Balasubrahmanyam (age 22), Chandrasekhar (age 22), Teja (age 19), and Harikrishna (age 20), were taken into custody and brought before an Eluru court. The court placed them under judicial custody for a period of fourteen days,” Rao stated.

Krishna Kumar, the inspector of police in Kaikaluru, is supervising a thorough inquiry. The school did not provide an instant response.
