On Wednesday, The Supreme Court denied Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s request for 7-day extension of his interim bail, following which he will have to go back to Tihar Jail on 2nd June. The plea is not maintainable as CM was given liberty to move trial court for regular bail says SC registry who denied the application.

Kejriwal had got interim bail from Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta on May 10 and was asked to surrender on 2nd June.

On May 17th, the bench reserved verdict on his challenge to the validity of his arrest by ED in a PMLA case linked to liquor scam.

SC refused to accept application and maintained that since verdict is already reserved on challenge to arrest, Kejriwal’s request for extension of his interim bail has no relation to main petition.
