A day after two bikers were killed in an accident involving BJP leader Karan Bhushan Singh’s convoy, the Kaiserganj candidate stated on Thursday that the bikers were run over by a car after hitting a woman and falling onto the road. He described the incident as “painful” and a “coincidence.”
According to Bhushan, the victims, Rehan Khan (17) and Shehzad Khan (20), were supporters of his father, sitting Kaiserganj MP and former Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Singh. Bhushan mentioned that party volunteers visited the victims’ families and attended the funeral.
The accident occurred on the Colonelganj-Huzurpur road on Wednesday when the SUV, registered as UP32HW 1800, struck the two youths fatally, according to SHO Nirbhay Narayan Singh. Both victims died at the scene.
After the collision with the bike, the driver lost control of the SUV, which then hit 60-year-old Sita Devi, who was walking on the roadside. Sita Devi is currently undergoing treatment at a medical college. The SUV driver, Luvkush Srivastava (30), has been arrested.
An FIR has been registered under various sections of the IPC and Motor Vehicles Act, according to Gonda ASP Radhey Shyam Rai.
