At least 13 individuals, including five children, lost their lives and 15 others were critically injured when a tractor-trolley transporting wedding guests overturned in Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district late Sunday night.

The tragic incident occurred around 9 pm near Piplodi, approximately 150 km north of Bhopal and just 2 km from the Rajasthan border.

The wedding party was traveling from Motipura village in Rajasthan to Piplodi, with around 30 people crammed into the tractor-trolley, while some others followed on motorcycles.

As the vehicle approached Piplodi, the driver lost control, causing the tractor to overturn and crush several passengers.

Local residents and other wedding attendees immediately began rescue operations, soon joined by the local police.

“We have confirmed 13 deaths so far. About 15 people have sustained injuries. Two of the more critically injured have been referred to Bhopal for treatment, while the rest are being treated at Rajgarh district hospital,” stated Collector Harsh Dixit.

Dixit added that the injured are currently unable to speak. All the victims are from Rajasthan, he noted.

Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav expressed his deepest condolences and stated that the state government is in continuous contact with the Rajasthan government. “The news of the untimely death of 13 people from Jhalawar district of Rajasthan due to the overturning of a tractor-trolley on Piplodi Road in Rajgarh district is extremely sad.
