Thane: The Thane Police have booked two individuals selected for constable posts during the 2022 police recruitment drive for submitting forged Project Affected Persons (PAP) certificates to gain reservation benefits.
This incident highlights the malpractices used by candidates in the recruitment process. The accused, Om Nagde and Alam Shaikh, both residents of Beed district, have had separate cases registered against them at the Thane police station.
The recruitment process was conducted for 521 constable posts, with 27 seats reserved for project-affected persons. A total of 39,338 applications were received from across the state for these positions, including 1,384 applications under the project-affected reservation category.
After physical tests and written exams in 2023, the final selection list of candidates was published. However, during this period, the Director General of Police ordered verification of certificates for selected project-affected and earthquake-affected candidates.
