Mumbai, the financial capital of India, and its suburbs experienced heavy overnight rainfall, leading to widespread waterlogging, diversion of BEST buses, and the cancellation of several trains on Monday, July 8. Suburban train services, particularly those on the Central Railway, were significantly delayed.

The Pune-Mumbai Deccan Queen, a premier train between the two cities, was also cancelled for the day due to the heavy rain.

Latest Updates on Mumbai Rain and Train Disruptions:

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported that Mumbai recorded over 300 mm of rainfall in various areas between 1 am and 7 am on Monday.

Heavy rain in low-lying areas resulted in waterlogging and disruption of suburban train services.

The BMC has forecasted continued heavy rain throughout Monday.

To avoid inconvenience to students, the BMC declared a holiday for the first session for all BMC, government, and private schools and colleges in Mumbai.

The decision for the second session will be announced after reviewing the situation.

BEST Bus Diversions: Mumbai Weather 

Due to waterlogging caused by the rain, many BEST buses were diverted from their regular routes.

Heavy rain led to waterlogging on the railway tracks at Vidyavihar Railway Station.

Heavy traffic congestion was reported on the Western Express Highway near Vile Parle due to heavy rain in Mumbai last night.

Vistara airline advised that heavy traffic congestion and slow vehicle movement are expected enroute to Mumbai Airport on Monday due to weather conditions. Customers are advised to allow more time for their journey to the airport.
