The Supreme Court on Friday requested responses from the Union government, the Medical Counselling Committee, and the National Medical Commission regarding a petition filed by 13 doctors challenging the cancellation of this year’s National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Super Speciality (NEET-SS).
Petitioners’ advocate, Rashmi Nandakumar argued that the delay in conducting the NEET-SS examination in 2021 due to Covid-19 should not result in the cancellation of this year’s exam, as it disrupts the aspirations of many doctors aiming to join super speciality courses.
A bench comprising Chief Justice D Y, Chandrachud and Justices, J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra issued notices to the respondents, seeking their responses within a week. The next hearing on the matter is scheduled for coming Friday.
