NEW DELHI: Police are investigating the abduction and brutal murder of a two-year-old boy in central Delhi’s Anand Parbat area. The incident came to light on Sunday morning when the boy’s lifeless body, wrapped in a cloth, was found discarded in an MCD toilet approximately 100 meters from his home. The perpetrator had struck the child’s face with a heavy object, subjected him to cigarette burns, and left bite marks on his body.
Enraged family members and local residents blocked New Rohtak Road in protest, demanding justice. Senior police officers rushed to the scene and, after about an hour of persuasion, convinced the family to vacate the road. The family alleged a callous response from the police when they initially reported the abduction. Senior officers assured that these allegations would be investigated.
Following the registration of the case, efforts are underway to identify the accused, with four teams assigned to the investigation. The child’s father, who earns a living by playing drums at weddings and other functions, and his grandfather recounted the events leading up to the tragedy.
On Saturday evening around 7:30 pm, the child was playing in front of their house while his mother was preparing dinner. Suddenly, the family realized that the boy had vanished. Despite their frantic search, they were unable to find him and subsequently went to the police station to file a missing person report. An all-night search ensued, but the child remained untraceable.
At 9 am the following morning, the child’s lifeless body was discovered in the local MCD toilet. Alerted by neighbors, the family rushed to the scene, only to find that the boy, Ayush, had been not only murdered but also subjected to torture. Enraged, the family staged a roadblock in protest.
Police are actively pursuing the perpetrator. The child was wearing silver bracelets and anklets at the time of his disappearance, but these were missing when his body was found. The family suspects that the murder occurred during the course of a robbery, possibly committed by a drug addict. Police are also investigating the possibility of a personal vendetta against the family.
