On Monday, Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule accused Sansad TV of “censoring” speeches made in English and regional languages in Parliament by dubbing them with Hindi voice-overs. Sansad TV refuted the claims, calling them “factually incorrect.”
Sule, a member of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), expressed concern over this practice, stating, “Sansad TV began the alarming practice of replacing the speeches of MPs in English or regional languages with Hindi voice-overs in the first session of this Lok Sabha, and it has continued doing so in the Budget Session.”
She criticized the practice as a form of censorship that deprives non-Hindi speaking Indians of hearing their elected representatives’ original words. “The government must immediately discontinue this discriminatory and anti-federal move,” she added.
Sansad TV responded with a statement on X, clarifying, “Sansad TV continues to telecast the live proceedings in the floor language. We have given the option to listen in Hindi, English, or Indian language if the viewer desires. These interpretations can also be heard by MPs inside the House.”
