The Ministry of Education clarified on Monday that the National Testing Agency (NTA) does not outsource the setting of question papers for exams. This statement came after Junior Education Minister, Sukanta Majumdar responded to a question in the Lok Sabha by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi.

The minister disclosed that all 170 employees of the NTA are either on contractual or outsourced terms. Specifically, 22 employees are currently on deputation, 39 are contractual employees, and 132 are outsourced staff.

Majumdar also mentioned that the Director General of the NTA is appointed by the Centre under the Central Staffing Scheme. Despite the staffing composition, he emphasized that “all core activities, including setting up of question papers,” are managed internally and not outsourced.
