A girl from Gujarat, who achieved an impressive 705 out of 720 in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG), has now failed her Class XII supplementary exams, rendering her ineligible for college admission.

Her exceptional NEET score was initially met with skepticism, given that she later failed her Class XII science board exams. She had struggled with physics and chemistry in the board exams held in March. Despite taking the supplementary exams in June—offering a second chance for those who failed up to three subjects—she has failed again in physics, scoring only 22 marks compared to 21 in her first attempt. In chemistry, she narrowly passed with 33 marks, up from 31 in the March exams.

This situation has raised doubts about the validity of her NEET score. An education official noted, “Given the ongoing scrutiny of NEET irregularities by the Supreme Court, this case warrants investigation. It’s highly unusual for someone who fails state board exams to achieve such a high score in a competitive national test.”

The stark discrepancy between her NEET score and her Class XII board results—352 out of 700—has attracted widespread attention on social media. Although sources have confirmed the validity of the scores, TOI has not independently verified if they belong to the same person.

Her NEET score, which was later adjusted to 700 following a Supreme Court ruling on a test question, places her in the top 99.89th percentile for physics, 99.14th for chemistry, and 99.14th for biology, with an overall percentile of 99.94. This score would typically guarantee a spot in a top medical college, but her failure to pass the Class XII board exams means she did not qualify for admission.
