NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old student, Gautam Kumar, tragically took his own life by jumping from the seventh floor of his hostel building at IP University in southwest Delhi on Sunday. According to Delhi Police, they received a distress call at 6:20 PM regarding the incident at Dwarka North Police Station.
Kumar, an MBA first-year student from Vaishali, Bihar, was found deceased at the scene. His body was taken to DDU Hospital for a postmortem. The police have launched an investigation into the case.
Preliminary reports suggest that Kumar may have been distressed after being expelled from the hostel for holding a birthday party. This development has led to some classmates protesting and raising slogans against the university administration.
The university administration has not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.
