Former US President and Republican candidate Donald Trump confirmed on Tuesday that he will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi next week. The announcement was reported, although the exact location of the meeting remains undisclosed.

Trump mentioned the upcoming meeting during a campaign event in Flint, Michigan, while discussing US-India trade relations. “He happens to be coming to meet me next week. And Modi, he’s fantastic,” Trump stated.

The meeting coincides with PM Modi’s visit to the US from September 21-23, where he will attend the Quad Leaders summit in Wilmington, Delaware, hosted by President Joe Biden. Modi is also scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly in New York and engage with the Indian community during his trip.

Trump and Modi have maintained a strong personal relationship since Trump’s presidency from 2017 to 2021. Notable past events include a grand rally hosted by Modi in Ahmedabad during Trump’s visit to India in 2020, and the “Howdy, Modi!” rally in Texas in 2019, which attracted over 50,000 attendees.
