The Indian Air Force (IAF) has issued a show-cause notice to a Wing Commander, a fighter pilot accused of raping a civilian intern in New Delhi and breaching security protocols at Ambala airbase. The notice was served on Thursday, requiring the officer, aged 40, to explain why he should not be dismissed from service following allegations made by a 25-year-old former intern at the Institute of Aerospace Safety at Palam.
An IAF spokesperson declined to comment, citing the matter as “sub-judice.” The Wing Commander has petitioned the Delhi High Court for a stay on the ongoing inquiries, with the next hearing scheduled for November 5.
The Delhi Police registered an FIR in December after the intern reported that the officer raped her at a hotel in Connaught Place. Following an apology and a promise of marriage, they entered a live-in relationship; however, she later discovered that he was married with two children.
Additionally, the inquiry includes allegations that the Wing Commander compromised security protocols by allowing unauthorized access to the Ambala airbase’s technical area, using smartphones in restricted zones, and sharing images of aircraft.
