JERUSALEM — Over the past year, Israel has bombed more than 40,000 targets in the Gaza Strip, uncovered 4,700 tunnel shafts, and destroyed 1,000 rocket launcher sites, according to military reports released on the one-year anniversary of the Hamas-led militant attacks that initiated Israel’s military response.

As of October 7, 2023, Israel’s military has reported the deaths of 726 Israeli soldiers, with 380 fatalities occurring during the October 7 attacks and 346 during combat operations in Gaza starting on October 27. The number of injured troops stands at 4,576, with an additional 56 soldiers having died due to operational accidents.

To mark this anniversary, the military noted that it has mobilized 300,000 reservists since the conflict began, consisting of 82% men and 18% women, with nearly half aged between 20 and 29.

Throughout the conflict, approximately 13,200 rockets were launched into Israel from Gaza, along with 12,400 from Lebanon, 60 from Syria, 180 from Yemen, and 400 from Iran. In response, Israeli forces have targeted over 4,900 locations in Lebanon and struck around 6,000 ground targets.

The military reported that it has killed more than 800 “terrorists” in Lebanon and arrested over 5,000 suspects in the West Bank and Jordan Valley over the past year. This includes the deaths of eight Gaza militant brigade commanders, about 30 battalion commanders, and 165 company commanders.

The conflict escalated following the October 7, 2023, attacks by Hamas militants, which resulted in the deaths of 1,200 people in southern Israel and the abduction of approximately 250 individuals, with over 100 hostages still held by Hamas. In retaliation, Israeli military actions in Gaza have reportedly resulted in nearly 42,000 Palestinian deaths, according to the Gaza health ministry.
