A 38-year-old cab driver from Yelahanka taluk, who had been living in Bengaluru, allegedly poisoned his 30-year-old wife and two minor daughters, aged three and five, before killing himself, police said.
The incident occurred on Sunday night near Rajanukunte, Yelahanka Taluk. According to authorities, the dad allegedly poisoned his children and then his wife before committing suicide.
The house owner discovered the occurrence after noticing that the family had not opened the door in the morning. After several fruitless attempts to contact the family, the driver’s brother was alerted.
The brother hurried to the house and discovered the bodies of his brother and the family. He immediately notified the Rajanukunte police station.
Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police CK Baba stated that the driver had migrated from Kalaburagi to Bengaluru roughly five to six years ago and was working for ride-hailing businesses to support his family.
“When his brother arrived and found no response to phone calls, he forced the door open and discovered that the man had hanged himself,” the SP said, adding that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the deaths.

“We are treating this as two separate cases: murder involving the poisoning of the wife and children, and suicide by the driver.

“We are gathering additional information from family members and close contacts to better understand any potential underlying causes,” the superintendent of police noted.
