Following a powerful explosion that damaged a wall of a CRPF school in Delhi’s Rohini on Sunday, authorities have launched a multi-agency investigation to uncover the motive and identify those responsible. A senior police officer indicated that the probe includes a potential Khalistani connection, as reported by PTI.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, although the IED blast caused damage to nearby shops and vehicles. Officials believe the attackers aimed to send a message to authorities, according to a senior police source.
The investigation into a Khalistani link was sparked by a social media post suggesting that the explosion was retaliation for the targeting of pro-Khalistan separatists by Indian agents. Sources stated that the bomb, likely an IED controlled by a remote or timer and designed without deadly shrapnel, was probably placed late Saturday night. Witnesses reported that the blast occurred between 7:35 and 7:40 AM on Sunday.
Later that evening, a purported screenshot of a Telegram post from Justice League India circulated on social media, featuring a clip of the explosion with a “Khalistan Zindabad” watermark. The post stated, “If Indian coward agencies and their masters think they can hire filthy goons to target our members and silence our voice, they are living in a fool’s world. They can’t imagine how close we are to them and how capable we are to strike anytime. #KhalistanZindabad #JLI.”
This incident follows a week during which numerous flights across India received bomb threats, all of which were later confirmed as hoaxes.
In the aftermath of the explosion, teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Delhi Police cordoned off the area and collected evidence for further analysis. An officer noted that the perpetrator “intentionally” chose the location to avoid harming people while still delivering a message.
