A woman in Karnataka has been arrested for allegedly murdering her husband and burning his body in a scheme to inherit assets valued at ₹8 crore. The police investigation revealed that the accused, Niharika, was the second wife of the victim, identified as Ramesh, 54, a businessman from Telangana.

Authorities claim Niharika lured Ramesh to Uppal, where he was strangled to death. Following the murder, she and her accomplices transported the body to Kodagu, left it in a coffee plantation, and subsequently burned it.

The investigation began on October 8 when an unidentified body was found in a coffee estate. Police arrested Niharika along with two associates: Dr. Nikhil, a veterinarian, and Ankur Rana, a Bengaluru resident.

To solve the case, the police formed four special teams comprising 16 officers. They reviewed CCTV footage from numerous cameras to track vehicles in the area around the time of the crime. A red Benz registered to Ramesh, who had been reported missing, was located, and police collaborated with their counterparts in Telangana for further information.

Suspicion soon centered on Niharika and her associates. During police interrogation, Niharika confessed to the crime.

Niharika, 29, hails from Mongeer Nagar in Telangana. She faced challenges early in life, losing her mother at 16, which led to her mother’s remarriage. After experiencing a troubled marriage and a divorce, she excelled academically, earning an engineering degree. However, her life took a downturn after becoming involved in a financial scam in Haryana, resulting in her arrest.

After serving her sentence, Niharika returned to Bangalore and married Ramesh in 2018. While Ramesh initially supported her lavish lifestyle, tensions escalated when he refused her demand for ₹8 crore, ultimately leading to the tragic events that unfolded.
