On Friday, a local court in Mangaluru condemned three defendants to death: Jayasingo (21), Mukesh Singh (20), and Manish Tirki (33) for the savage rape and murder of a six-year-old child from Jharkhand in 2021.
Following the ruling issued by the second additional district and session court, special public prosecutor K Badarinath Nayari told reporters: “On Sunday, November 21, 2021, the Raj Tiles factory in Tiruvailu was closed, but workers were allowed to remain on the premises.” The youngster was playing outdoors when the accused enticed her away with food to a remote area of the factory, where they committed the horrible crime.”
“The fourth accused, Muneem Singh, stood guard and participated in disposing of the body. “The accused strangled the child to silence her and hid the body in a basement,” he claimed.
Mangaluru Rural police opened a legal case based on a complaint filed by the victim’s mother under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. The following sections of the Pocso Act are included: 120B (criminal conspiracy), 366A (kidnapping), 376D (gang rape), 377 (unnatural acts), 302 (murder), 201 (causing evidence to disappear), 34 (common intention), and 6.
Following the investigation, then-Inspector Johnson D’Souza filed a thorough charge sheet with the court. The court reviewed the testimony of 30 witnesses and 74 documents. After careful analysis of the evidence, Judge KS Manu sentenced the three accused to death under IPC sections 302, 376D, 120B, 34, and Section 6 of the Pocso Act.
The court sentenced the offender to five years of harsh imprisonment under IPC Sections 366A and 34, along with a ₹10,000 fine.
The court sentenced the three offenders to 10 years of harsh imprisonment under IPC Sections 377 and 34, as well as a ₹20,000 fine apiece.
The court sentenced them to five years of hard imprisonment under IPC sections 201 and 34, with a fine of ₹10,000 each.
The victim’s parents will get a ₹1,20,000 fine and an additional ₹3,80,000 from the district legal aid authority’s rape victims’ compensation plan, as ordered by the judge.
