HYDERABAD: A 23-year-old student from Hyderabad, pursuing a Master’s degree in the US, tragically lost his life on his birthday after being shot by his own licensed hunting rifle. The incident occurred on November 13 at his home in Atlanta, Georgia, where he had been celebrating with friends.
Palvai Aryan Reddy, who was studying at Kansas State University, had purchased the rifle in August but had not informed his family about it. It remains unclear whether the gunshot was caused by an accidental misfire. Aryan’s birthday celebration turned to tragedy when, after stepping into a separate room, a gunshot was heard. His friends rushed to his side and found him with a gunshot wound to his chest.
He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. Aryan had arrived in the US on December 23, 2023, to continue his studies and was reportedly interested in joining the Army during his younger years, though he chose a different path at his family’s request.
The tragic incident has left his family and friends in shock, as they await further details on the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Aryan’s body was repatriated to Hyderabad on Friday, where his grieving family now prepares for his final rites.
