BAREILLY: A tragic accident occurred on Saturday night when a taxi, guided by a navigation app, plunged off an incomplete bridge in Faridpur, resulting in the deaths of three men from Uttar Pradesh. The victims were en route from Gurugram to Bareilly, and while traveling from Dataganj (Budaun) to Faridpur, they were relying on Google Maps for directions. However, they were unaware that the bridge over the Ramganga River had been left unfinished.
The incident took place late at night, and it wasn’t until Sunday morning that locals from Khallpur discovered the wrecked vehicle beneath the bridge and alerted the authorities. Faridpur SHO Rahul Singh confirmed that, upon reviewing the victims’ mobile phones, it was clear they had been using Google Maps for navigation. Identification documents recovered from the scene linked the victims to a Gurugram-based security company.
The Faridpur side of the bridge had been destroyed by floods several months ago. Faridpur SDM Gulab Singh stated that an investigation would be launched into the incident, with action to be taken against the responsible officials.
