RAIPUR: A district reserve guard (DRG) jawan was injured when a pressure IED, planted by Maoists, exploded during a patrol in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Sunday. The blast occurred around 11 a.m. as a joint security team was conducting a routine patrol in the Chintalnar region. The jawan, identified as Podiyam Vinod, accidentally stepped on the IED, triggering the explosion.
Vinod sustained leg injuries in the blast and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. He was later airlifted to Raipur for further medical treatment.
