In a remarkable turn of events, Bhim Singh, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, has been reunited with his family nearly three decades after being abducted and subjected to years of forced labour.
Singh, who was just a child when he was kidnapped, recalled his traumatic ordeal in an interview. He explained that, while returning from school, he and his sister were abducted by strangers and taken to Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. There, Singh was forced to work as bonded labour, looking after sheep and goats in a village. He was often beaten and given food only once a day.
After enduring years of mistreatment, Singh’s life took a turn when a kind individual noticed his plight and dropped him off in Ghaziabad. There, with the help of local police, Singh was able to reconnect with his family.
Speaking to ANI, Singh shared his harrowing experience: “When my sister and I were returning from school, some people kidnapped us and took us to Jaisalmer… I had to rear sheep and goats in the village. They tied me to a tree and only fed me once in the evening. They used to beat me. One day, a kind person saw me and dropped me off in Ghaziabad. The police helped me and reunited me with my family.”
According to ACP Sahibabad Rajneesh Kumar Upadhyay, Singh initially couldn’t recall his home address when he arrived at the police station. After hearing his story, the police launched an effort to find his family, circulating his details on social media.
The police received several responses, and after verifying his identity, a family from the area, led by Tula Ram, reached out. Upon seeing them, Singh immediately recognized his family, leading to an emotional reunion.
Upadhyay confirmed that an investigation into the case is ongoing, as the police continue to piece together the details of Singh’s kidnapping and forced labour.
