MUMBAI: A large-scale swearing-in ceremony for Maharashtra’s Chief Minister-designate, Devendra Fadnavis, is set to take place today, December 5, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in attendance. To ensure smooth proceedings, 61 high-ranking bureaucrats have been deployed for protocol duties—a scale unprecedented in recent memory.
“Each bureaucrat has been assigned to accompany a designated dignitary, oversee logistics, and ensure the event runs flawlessly,” a senior official told TOI.

High-profile attendees include governors, chief ministers, and senior BJP and NDA leaders. Over 50,000 people are expected at the event. Notable dignitaries such as Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath, Nitish Kumar, Nitin Gadkari, and Nirmala Sitharaman will be escorted by designated bureaucrats. Prominent officials like P. Anbalagan (CMD, Maharashtra State Power Generation Company) and Vijay Waghmare (Tribal Development Secretary) are among those assigned for coordination.
Former Maharashtra CMs, including Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, and Narayan Rane, have also been invited.

To manage the influx of attendees, Mumbai Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory effective from 12 PM until the event concludes. Key points include:
- Avoid Routes: Traffic near Azad Maidan Ground will be regulated.
- Public Transport Encouraged: With no parking available at the venue, citizens are urged to use trains and local transport.
