Six people lost their lives and four others were injured when the seven-seater MUV they were traveling in crashed into a tree on Bhind-Lipulekh NH-731 near Neuria Thana in Pilibhit on Thursday night. The group was returning from a wedding at Chandoi.
Pilibhit SP Avinash Pandey stated, “The vehicle was speeding at over 100 km/h. The driver lost control after overtaking another fast-moving car.” The collision was so severe that a large branch of the tree fell on the vehicle. The wreckage had to be cut open to remove the bodies and the injured passengers.
Six people were declared dead on the spot. On Friday, after postmortem, the bodies were handed over to the families for last rites.
