JAIPUR: Security agencies and police were put on high alert after a balloon shaped like an airplane and marked with “Pakistan International Airlines” along with a printed Pakistani flag landed in Khajuwala, Bikaner, Rajasthan, on Saturday. This marks the third such incident in just 35 days.
The toy-like balloon, approximately two feet in length, was first spotted by villagers, who promptly informed the police and Border Security Force (BSF). Initial investigations revealed that the balloon did not carry any devices or equipment typically linked to espionage.
Despite the absence of suspicious components, authorities are treating the incident with caution, particularly given the history of narcotics smuggling across the India-Pakistan border.
“The incident raises questions about whether these balloons are part of testing or diversion tactics employed by smugglers,” said a police officer involved in the investigation.
Security measures have been heightened in the area as authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
