The government has formed a four-member team of physicians to look into the “unusual deaths” after three youngsters, including a brother-sister pair, died in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Thursday from suspected food poisoning, officials said.In the last five days, seven members of two families have died in the border district, including the most recent tragedy. Similar circumstances led to the death of a man and his three children on Sunday.
A magistrate’s investigation into the killings has been ordered by Rajouri Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma.
According to officials, three siblings were taken this morning from Badhal village in Khawas to Kotranka civil hospital, where seven-year-old Nazia Kousar passed away. Her older brothers, Ishtiaq (age 9) and Ashfaq (age 11), were sent to the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital for specialized care.
But according to them, Ishtiaq also passed away while receiving care at the GMC hospital.According to the officials, Ruksar, 12, passed away today afternoon while receiving treatment at a hospital in Jammu alongside his mother, Shamim Akhter.Three siblings, Rabia Kouser, 15, Farmana Kouser, 12, and Rafter Ahmad, 4, as well as Ruksar’s father, Fazal Hussain, all away on Sunday.Rakesh Magotra, director of health services (Jammu), formed a four-person medical team for epidemiological research after taking significant notice of the “unusual deaths.”According to officials, who cited an instruction from the head of health services, the team will visit the district on Friday.
DC Sharma promised prompt action and offered his condolences to the family of the deceased. After visiting the GMC and the impacted rural area, Sharma stated, “Rapid sampling is underway, while several helplines have been activated to provide assistance to the people.”
