NEW DELHI: Following the tragic murders of three Indian students in Canada, the Indian government has urged its nationals to exercise caution due to the growing incidents of hate crimes and violence in the country. In response to Canadian media reports alleging that India is denying visas to Canadian nationals and Khalistan separatists, the government strongly rebutted these claims, stating that such commentary constitutes foreign interference in India’s sovereign affairs.
“It is another example of Canadian media spreading disinformation to malign India. The issuance of Indian visas is a sovereign decision, and we have the legitimate right to deny visas to individuals who undermine our territorial integrity,” said Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.
Regarding the recent murders, which he called “terrible tragedies,” the MEA confirmed that Indian consulates in Toronto and Vancouver are providing full support to the victims’ families and are in constant communication with local authorities to ensure a thorough investigation into the incidents.
