JAIPUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the BJP-led governments in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday for resolving a decades-old interstate water dispute, showcasing how political will and dialogue can settle long-standing conflicts.
Speaking at an event in Dadiya village near Jaipur to mark the first anniversary of the Bhajan Lal Sharma government in Rajasthan, Modi highlighted the successful resolution of the dispute as an example for other states grappling with similar issues.
“The resolution of the decades-old water dispute between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan serves as a model for all states struggling with such challenges,” the Prime Minister said.
He criticized the Congress for stalling the Parwan-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC)-Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) for years. “The Congress delayed the PKC-Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project for far too long. As soon as BJP governments were formed in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh in December 2023, the project was promptly revived,” Modi noted.
The Prime Minister’s remarks underscore the importance of cooperative governance in addressing critical issues like water-sharing disputes, which are vital for regional development and harmony.
