NEW DELHI: Security forces in Manipur have recovered a device resembling a Starlink internet terminal, along with sniper rifles, pistols, grenades, and other weapons, during a search operation in Imphal East district on December 13, sources revealed on Tuesday. The discovery of the Starlink-branded device has triggered investigations into how the equipment reached the conflict-affected region.

Starlink, which does not have a license to operate in India, has yet to confirm whether the recovered device is genuine. Photos shared by the Dimapur-based Spear Corps on X (formerly Twitter) show the device with a Starlink logo, accompanied by other recovered items, including weapons marked with “RPF/PLA.”

In related operations, Manipur Police arrested 10 active cadres of the banned militant group Kangleipak Communist Party-People’s War Group (KCP-PWG) in Kakching district. These arrests followed the killing of two migrant laborers from Bihar on Saturday evening.

“During an operation, police arrested an active KCP (PWG) cadre at Kakching Lamkhai,” an officer stated. Information from the arrested individual led authorities to a camp where seven additional militants were apprehended. Another operation the same day resulted in the capture of two more cadres.

The recovered device and weapons have raised concerns about external support and logistics in the region, prompting further scrutiny by relevant agencies.
