NEW DELHI: As efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza gain momentum, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held talks with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa’ar on Wednesday. Sa’ar briefed Jaishankar on the latest developments in West Asia, and both ministers discussed the possibility of meeting in person soon.

“Appreciate his briefing on the ongoing developments in the region. Also discussed our bilateral relations and efforts to strengthen them. Look forward to meeting in person,” Jaishankar wrote on X.

Reports indicate that negotiations may soon lead to a breakthrough involving the release of hostages along with a temporary ceasefire in Gaza. Sa’ar echoed the sentiment of collaboration, stating, “India is a giant country, one of the most important in the world, and friendly to Israel. We agreed to meet soon and work together to strengthen our bilateral relations,” in a post on X.
