KOLKATA: On Thursday, protesting doctors visited the West Bengal secretariat to meet Chief Secretary Manoj Pant, urging the government to issue a “no-objection certificate” to facilitate the CBI’s investigation into the RG Kar case.

Some doctors also went to the CBI’s CGO Complex office to meet with agency officers, emphasizing the need for a swift conclusion to the probe into the incident at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

“We went to meet the chief secretary and requested that the state government issue the necessary clearance to allow the CBI to complete its investigation into the financial irregularities at RG Kar,” said one of the protesting doctors. “However, the chief secretary did not meet us.”

The case follows the discovery of the body of a female doctor at RG Kar hospital on August 9. The CBI has since filed a chargesheet against the prime accused, Sanjay Roy, for the rape and murder of the on-duty doctor.
