JAMMU: Security forces in Jammu Division achieved significant success against terrorism in 2024, neutralizing 14 foreign terrorists and dismantling 13 terror modules, a police spokesperson announced on Wednesday. Additionally, 827 overground workers (OGWs) were booked for anti-national activities during the year.

“In 2024, the Jammu Zone made remarkable progress in enhancing security and controlling crime. The elimination of 14 foreign terrorists delivered a major blow to terror networks aiming to disrupt peace and stability in the region,” the spokesperson stated.

Among the 13 terror modules dismantled, one each was identified in Rajouri and Reasi, two each in Poonch and Kathua districts, three in Udhampur, and four in Doda.

Crackdown on Overground Workers and Detainees

The police intensified their crackdown on anti-national elements, booking 827 OGWs in 2024, a significant rise compared to 282 in 2023. Additionally, 180 individuals were detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA), compared to 168 in the previous year.

Anti-Drug Operations

In its campaign against narcotics, the Jammu Zone registered 476 NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) cases in 2024. Key seizures included 9.99 kg of heroin recovered from the LoC area in Nowshera sector in April and 33.58 kg seized from Jammu bus stand in August, leading to multiple arrests.

Properties linked to drug trafficking were seized or frozen in 84 NDPS cases, with nine cases confirmed under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA).

These measures reflect the Jammu Zone’s commitment to combating terrorism and organized crime while ensuring the safety and stability of the region.
