Lucknow: A 30-year-old woman, Geeta Sharma, working as a property dealer, was found injured and unconscious on a roadside near her housing society in the PGI area on Friday. Local residents alerted the police, who rushed her to the Apex Trauma Centre in Vrindavan Yojana, where doctors declared her brought dead.

Geeta, a native of Rae Bareli, was identified by residents of the area. Her brother, Lalchand, has accused her live-in partner, Girija Shankar, of murdering her and has lodged a complaint at the SGPGI Police Station.

According to Additional DCP (East Zone) Pankaj Singh, a postmortem examination revealed multiple injuries on Geeta’s body that caused her death. “We are investigating whether the injuries resulted from an accident or if this was a case of brutal murder,” Singh said.

Lalchand alleged that Girija initially misled him by claiming Geeta had been in an accident and was hospitalized. He further disclosed that Geeta had a ₹1 crore insurance policy with Girija Shankar as the nominee, suggesting this might have been the motive behind her alleged murder.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of Geeta’s death.
