NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the NEET-UG 2025 medical entrance exam will take place on May 4. As India’s largest entrance exam, NEET-UG is the gateway to medical colleges across the country, offering over 1.08 lakh MBBS seats—56,000 in government institutions and 52,000 in private colleges. The exam is also used for admissions to undergraduate dental courses.

The application process opened on Friday and will remain active until March 7.

Despite its significance, NEET has been surrounded by controversy in recent years. The 2024 exam faced allegations of paper leaks, irregularities, and legal disputes, prompting widespread public outcry. In response, the government established a committee in July 2024 to review and enhance the examination process.

NTA has confirmed that NEET-UG 2025 will continue in the traditional pen-and-paper format.
