A liquefied natural gas vessel managed by a company in India has berthed at Russia’s Arctic LNG 2 project, following five previous cargo loadings onto vessels managed by companies under U.S. sanctions, data showed.
The Arctic LNG 2 by Novatek NVTK.MM is among the projects subject to Western sanctions imposed due to Russia’s conflict with Ukraine.
The Mulan LNG vessel berthed at the plant on Sept. 22, data from Kpler and LSEG showed. From Aug. 8-28, the vessel was managed by Mumbai-based Plio Energy Cargo Shipping, according to data from Equasis. The U.S. state department had imposed sanctions on Plio Energy on Sept. 5 for its attempt to export LNG from Arctic LNG 2.
Since Aug. 29, Skyhart Management Services with an address in Haryana, India took over as the vessel’s manager.
Skyhart Management did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Reuters could not find contact information for Plio Energy.
