According to sources, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to appoint new state presidents in Gujarat, Telangana, and West Bengal, where the current chiefs have been inducted into the Union Council of Ministers. Changes in state leadership are also anticipated in Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan, where the party’s performance fell short of expectations. These appointments will follow the selection of a new national BJP president to replace J.P. Nadda, who was recently appointed Union health minister. The timeline for electing the new national president remains uncertain.
In other news, police have formed 11 teams and launched a massive manhunt to capture the terrorists responsible for the deadly attack on a bus full of pilgrims in Reasi district, Jammu. The attack resulted in nine fatalities and 42 injuries. Authorities suspect the involvement of Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba in the strike. The state and National Investigation agencies have joined the probe, collecting evidence from the attack site in Teryath. Police have also questioned local residents. The 53-seater bus, carrying pilgrims from Shiv Khori temple in Reasi to Katra, was ambushed by terrorists around 6:10 PM on Sunday evening in Teryath village, causing the bus to roll into a gorge.
