KANPUR: The discovery of severed body parts belonging to a missing 17-year-old girl in a forested area of Unnao district on Thursday has triggered unrest among locals. The girl, a Class 12 student, had been missing for ten days before police recovered her severed arm, hair, and belongings.

Authorities have launched an extensive search operation in the forest, while forensic teams have gathered evidence from the scene. The victim’s school items, including her uniform and identification card, were found roughly seven kilometers from her village.

Senior police officials, including the Superintendent of Police (SP), Circle Officer (CO), and Station Officer (SO), along with forensic experts and canine units, arrived at the location to assist in the investigation.

The teenager, the daughter of a home guard, left home on February 10 for her biology practical exam but never returned. Her father, who has been stationed at the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh since December, filed a missing person’s report on February 12. On February 15, police escalated the case, adding kidnapping charges against an unidentified suspect.

Authorities continue to investigate the case, with intensified search efforts underway in the region.
