The vital organs of a brain-dead man were airlifted from Jhalawar to Jaipur and Jodhpur on Sunday, marking a significant achievement in organ transplantation efforts in Rajasthan. For the first time, organs were transported by helicopter for transplant surgeries in both cities, officials confirmed.

The donor, 33-year-old Vishnu Prasad from Manpura Pipaji in Jhalawar district, was injured in a scuffle on December 10 and was declared brain-dead on December 12. Following his family’s consent, his organs were sent to save the lives of six patients.

Dr. Deepak Maheshwari, Superintendent of Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital, explained that one kidney, two lungs, and the heart were transplanted into patients in Jaipur, while another kidney and the liver were sent to AIIMS Jodhpur.

The helicopter carrying the organs landed at SMS Medical College in Jaipur, where a green corridor was created to facilitate their swift transport to SMS Hospital.

In a heartfelt gesture, Prasad’s father and wife, Anita, gave their consent for organ donation after being counseled by Jhalawar District Collector Ajay Singh Rathore and senior doctors.
