Pune: Amidst the MVA’s surprise victory, securing 30 of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, six constituencies witnessed intense battles with winning margins of less than 20,000 votes. Recounting was ordered in three of these constituencies—Mumbai Northwest, Dhule, and Beed.

The BJP faced significant setbacks, losing four battles—three against the Congress and one against the NCP-SCP. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) failed to secure victories in two seats, leading to wins for its rival Shiv Sena.

In Mumbai Northwest, the competition was exceptionally tight between Sena’s Ravindra Waikar and Sena (UBT)’s Amol Kirtikar, with the latter clinching victory by a mere 48 votes, marking the narrowest margin in the state.
