MUMBAI: Colaba once again registered the lowest voter turnout in Mumbai during the recent elections, with only 44.5% of eligible voters casting their ballots. While this was an improvement over the 40.2% turnout in the 2019 elections, it still fell short of the 46.2% recorded in 2014.
Colaba’s Voter Turnout Continues to Lag Behind
The turnout in Colaba also remains lower than the voter participation in the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year. In May 2024, the Colaba assembly segment, which is part of the South Mumbai Lok Sabha constituency, had recorded a turnout of just 43.68%.
Bhandup West Tops Voter Turnout with 61.1%
In stark contrast, Bhandup West emerged with the highest voter turnout among the city’s 36 constituencies, recording an impressive 61.1%. This marked a significant increase over its previous records of 56.2% in 2019 and 55.4% in 2014.
Borivali & Mulund Close Behind
Borivali and Mulund constituencies followed closely, with both areas reporting a turnout of 60.5%.
