Construction will begin on the Port City in Colombo’s Marina development, which is expected to be a major value addition that will increase both business and appeal. Browns Investments PLC, LOLC Holdings PLC, and China Harbour and Engineering Corporation/CHEC Port City Colombo Ltd. collaborated to build the Marina, Port City Colombo. Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, will attend the groundbreaking event as the Chief Guest.

The marina plans to build a cutting-edge facility that can accommodate 243 marine boats. The complex will have elite guest clubs, restaurants, shops, event spaces, recreation grounds, and plenty of parking in addition to its primary marina use. The project is anticipated to greatly increase Colombo Port City’s appeal as a top maritime tourism and recreation destination, supporting the region’s overall economic expansion.

According to the terms of the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Act No. 11 of 2021, Colombo Marina Development Ltd. was nominated as a primary venture with strategic development status by the Cabinet of Ministers in August of last year. With this classification, the business will be eligible to obtain project-related rewards and encouragements. Colombo Marina Development has been leased four parcels of land in the Colombo Port City region as part of this endeavor. A forward-thinking multi-service special economic zone, Port City Colombo has the potential to make Sri Lanka the next major international destination for travel and investment.
