Nagpur: Pachpaoli police have filed a case of fraud against a couple accused of swindling three individuals out of Rs 3.70 crore in separate land transactions between October 2022 and November 2024. The accused, Anand Khobragade and his wife Sarda, both residents of Nawanakasha in Pachpaoli, are reportedly directors of a real estate company and own an office in the area.
Authorities suspect the fraud amount and the number of victims may increase, and the case is likely to be transferred to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the city police for further investigation.
According to the police, the first victim, Asim Nawed Issararulha, a resident of Gittikhadan, came into contact with the couple in 2022. Anand and Sarda allegedly entered into an agreement to sell a plot in Kamptee tehsil for Rs 1 crore and accepted Rs 1.20 crore as an advance. However, the accused never executed the sale deed nor handed over possession of the plot to Asim, despite taking the money. Instead, they are said to have misappropriated the funds.
When Asim sent laborers to mark the plot, the couple reportedly abused them and turned them away. Upon questioning, the accused allegedly verbally abused Asim as well and demanded an additional Rs 1 crore for the plot, police said.
In addition to Asim’s case, the couple is accused of accepting Rs 1.30 crore from a company for another plot and Rs 1.20 crore from one Virendra Singh Shekhawat for yet another plot. However, no sale deeds were executed for any of the properties in question.
The victims, including Asim and others, filed complaints at the Pachpaoli police station, leading to the registration of a fraud case against Anand and Sarda Khobragade.
