A 13-year-old boy was found hanging at his home in Kalyan on Sunday. A note believed to be written by the boy claims that a teacher and a fellow student from his school had ‘instigated’ him to ‘commit suicide.’ The note alleges that the teacher and the student had been teasing him, which led him to take this drastic step. The school has since dismissed the teacher involved.
On Sunday, the boy was alone at home while his parents and sister were out. When his father returned around 7 p.m., he knocked on the door but received no answer. Peering through a window, he discovered his son hanging inside. The father, with the help of neighbors, forced the door open and notified the police. The boy was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
During the investigation, police found the note, which accuses the teacher and the student of causing the boy’s distress. Currently, the police have registered the case as an accidental death. A senior officer noted that the note lacks specific details about the alleged harassment.
The police plan to interview the boy’s parents, classmates, and teachers to gather more information about the harassment the boy reportedly faced before deciding on further action. Friends and acquaintances of the boy, Vignesh, expressed shock at his death, describing him as a cheerful individual.
The boy’s father is demanding strict action against those he believes are responsible for his son’s death. The school management announced on Monday morning that the teacher involved had been terminated. However, the teacher’s family has since defended her, claiming she did not harass the student.
